    ~~ LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP ! ~~

Tomorrow is leap day..... A few weeks ago there was an article in the A2 News pertaining to a gentleman who owns a business and lives in HELL, MICHIGAN. He's well-known locally especially after the "6/6/6 " kraziness ! (Google it HELL 6/6/6/ ). The article was about him offering his little chapel and services for marriage for free tomorrow. The couple would only have an anniversary every four years! .....So, if any of you lovebirds have been considering eloping... then here's your chance ! GO TO HELL TOMORROW ! ( and back ! ) =o)

    ~~LTN BLOG ! ~~

Hellooooooooooooooooooo ! Been awhile, eh? What's new ? My vacation was chill . I made a kewl new friend ! broke my coffee pot. Ruined my new plum fleece /w OIL BASED FLOOR PAINT ! No p/t job yet :-( Got certified ( insanity ) in " The 7 Habits Of HIGHly Effective People " by the Univ. I freekin' loved it ! What timing too. I really needed this class ! Has opened up my eyes, no, they were opened just opened them wider ! I learned SOOOOOOO much !! And I also much mention that not only did I learn I also got tomeet a lot of people in my dept. that I didn't know but do now . It was kewl to see people participate at the level they did . The 3 people that taught it do a terrific job too ! I paticularly liked Ann Tobias And Steve Braggs ( & he was easy on the eyes for a blond and nice personality too!) Here's a quick rundown on the " habits" . 1. BE PROACTIVE 2. BEGIN WITH AND END IN MIND 3. PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST 4. THINK WIN - WIN 5. SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND,THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD 6. SYNERGIZE 7. SHARPEN THE SAW This class was based on a book by (smilin' ) Steve Covey PHD.There were lectures, individual and group excercises & videos. The books we used in class we got to keep. They are really nice & I know how expensive books are and commented to Ann on how nice they were and she said they were around $ 70 (USA) . Very nice ! Like REALLY nice ! Here's a kewl quote on empathic listening~~ " When I ask you to listen and you start giving advise, you have not done what I have asked. When I ask you to listen to me and you begin to tell me why I shouldn't feel that way , you are trampling on my feelings. When I ask you to listen to me and you feel you have to do something to solve my problem, youhave failed me,strange as it may seem. Listen ! ALL I ask is that you listen; not talk or do-just hear me. ~Ralph Roughton ~ Empathic listening is REFLECTING what a person feels and says in your own words. That's the jist of habit 5.... there's a lot to all of the steps...kinda' feels like someone gave me a..... KEY !!! I'm going to do my best to put to use what I have learned... I was keen on a couple of the steps , it's like I was half way there , needed the boost... I'll shut up about it now ! :p I HIGHly recommend his book !!! Today at work I went in the kitchen and who was there? The sweet Sallye Ramsey ! She was out with back surgery for 8 months ! Damn , we sure gave each a BIG HUG ! Man I missed her ! Royster ( she's VP of Student Affairs ) was LOST w/ o her bud . Seeing her was a day brightener.. WELCOME BACK , SALLYE ! Also I tip my hat off publicly to Glenn ( co-worker ) for his kindness today~ that was nice of you !!! Took me by surprise !! Well, gotta' scoot ! TT4N ! XXOOXX

I had this on a previous blog but wasn't in w/ the rest of my poems...posting to get it where I want it :p

    SUMMER VACATION

    I let the sand
    Trickle
    Through
    My fingers as
    We lay
    Wet
    (after swimming in the lake)
    In the hot afternoon
    Sand

    The three of us
    Bronzed
    Worshipping the suns brillant rays
    Like Aztecs

We spent most of our summers
    That way
    Lounging like lizards
    On the beach

    Enjoying the freedom of youth
    Not appreciating
    The carefree existence we had......
All the time in the world...
    To enjoy/ explore/ experience
    Nature's gifts

    ~SNOW, SNOW, SNOW ( TUESDAY ) ! ~

On Tuesday I had an Arts Club meeting. It was snowing pretty good when I left . Traffic was jammed up and it took me longer than normal. Our Prez. Angie never made it as she was stuck in a big traffic clusterf*ck !

BTW~~> I am coordinating a benefit night @ Noodles & Company ! We will get 25 % of each sale that night ! My idea was a huge hit with the board members...:-) and I 'm proceeding w/ all the minor details etc. We will have tons of flyers to pass out and they will get turned in with their reciept!  Kewl , eh?

When I got out of the meeting an hour and a half later it had snowed four more inches ! ! It took me 45 minutes @ least to get home from a normally 10 minute drive ! ! NUTZ ! It was sit & go... sit & go ( a few feet ) !  Plus I was stuck behind an ambulance emmitting one of least favorite scents Diesel fuel ,  ewwwwwww, nasty ! I like driving in the snow but not when traffic is moving like a turtle! So I feel for all of you that have to commute more than a mile & a half  in bad weather !  ( that's how far I have to commute....I finally got a taste of what's it's like !  IT BLOWS !

We received twice as much snow as last year !  It's about time !  Yippeeeee !

I'm happy we have had so much, it'll help out the northern part of the state as they have been very dry the  last year or two.... and it's PRETTY ! We are supposed to get more soon.... don't get me wrong thou' cuz' I am sick of winter and long for Spring.....

    ~~ FLICKS I'VE SEEN LATELY ~~

    First & foremost....

     THE PIANIST

Wowzer ! What a flick ! Roman Polanski did an amazing job . Adrien Brody was excellent.... A brilliant pianist, a Polish Jew, witnesses the restrictions Nazis place on Jews in the Polish capital, from restricted access to the building of the Warsaw ghetto. As his family is rounded up to be shipped off to the Nazi labor camps, he escapes deportation and eludes capture by living in the ruins of Warsaw.

The true story of Wladyslaw Szpilman who, in the 1930s, was known as the most accomplished piano player in all of Poland, if not Europe. At the outbreak of the Second World War, however, Szpilman becomes subject to the anti-Jewish laws imposed by the conquering Germans. By the start of the 1940s, Szpilman has seen his world go from piano concert halls to the Jewish Ghetto of Warsaw and then must suffer the tragedy of his family deported to a German concentration camps, while Szpilman is conscripted into a forced German Labor Compound. At last deciding to escape, Szpilman goes into hiding as a Jewish refugee where he is witness to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising (April 19, 1943 - May 16, 1943) and the Warsaw Uprising (1 August to 2 October 1944) RATING: A+

     KATE & LEOPOLD

I needed something lightweight after THE PIANIST....Hugh Jackman was just dreamy in this role..... Meg Ryan was good too....cute plot.. Liev Schreiber portrays Stuart Besser who discovers a gap in the space/time continuum, leading him back to 1876 New York City. It is there that Stuart's grandfather, Leopold (portrayed by Hugh Jackman) becomes befuddled by Stuart's odd behavior and tiny camera. Leopold's curiosity overcomes him; thus he pursues Stuart and accidentally travels through the gap with his grandson to 2001. Leopold inevitably falls in love with Kate McKay, portrayed by Meg Ryan, Stuart's neighbor and ex-girlfriend.  RATING :B+     ( <~~ HOT ! )

THE SARAH SILVERMAN SHOW I had to check it out... I like her stand -up better....got a few chuckles.....me-agomous... RATING: B-

PERFUME Perfume is set in the colourful backdrop of 18th century France centering on the life of an unfortunate boy, Jean Baptiste, born in the slums of a Paris fish market. Left for dead amongst rotting fish guts, he inhales the plethora of scents around him. He is rescued by some passers by and is subsequently placed in an orphanage. He is an odd child and a social outcast. Possibly as a result of his traumatic birth, he is blessed with outstanding olfactory senses: from early childhood he displays an uncanny ability for discerning the individual smells of everything around him. The twists and turns of his early life are one continuous tragic story. His quest is to learn the art of perfume making and, once taught, Jean Baptise desires to make the ultimate perfume. His skilfully crafted perfumes have the ability to provoke unexpected reactions in both the wearer and the recipient. During his apprenticeship, he discovers he has no personal smell and is initially devastated. On his journey to create olfactory perfection, he seeks alternative ingredients to his perfumes and, in doing so, leaves a grisly trail ......strange flick..interesting but.....Al Pacino was in it.... RATING: C

    Eero Saarinen: Shaping the Future
    November 17, 2007 – March 30, 2008
    Cranbrook Art Museum

Cranbrook Art Museum presents the North American premiere of the exhibition Eero Saarinen: Shaping the Future which explores the work of one of the most prolific, unorthodox, and controversial masters of 20th-century architecture. Shaping the Future examines the architect’s wide-ranging career -- which was based in Bloomfield Hills -- from the 1930s through the early 1960s. Saarinen’s international array of buildings will be featured, as well as his path-breaking designs for furniture and his master plans for civic centers and universities.

The son of Cranbrook’s first Resident Architect, Eliel Saarinen, and Cranbrook Academy of Art’s first Head of the Department of Weaving, Loja Saarinen, the Finnish-American Eero Saarinen (1910-1961) first studied architecture and design with his parents at Cranbrook where, as a precocious twenty-year-old, he designed all of the furniture for Kingswood School for Girls. After formal studies at the Yale School of Architecture, Eero returned to Michigan and partnered with his father on many important commissions, including the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, a project that ultimately launched Eero’s independent career after his father’s death in 1950. During the 1950s Eero helped create the international image of the United States with his designs for some of the most potent symbolic expressions of American identity, including the St. Louis Gateway Arch and the TWA Terminal at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport.
